With a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and a passion for cultivating artistic and technical excellence, I offer professional instruction to students of all ages and skill levels. This studio provides a holistic approach to piano education, including repertoire development, technique, music theory, and ear training — designed to support each student’s unique goals.

This policy is intended to create a structured, respectful, and enriching learning environment that fosters consistent growth and long-term success.

1. Lesson Structure

Lessons are tailored to the needs and goals of each student. Weekly lessons include:

  • Repertoire instruction from all stylistic periods

  • Technical development (scales, arpeggios, etudes)

  • Ear training and rhythm exercises

  • Sight reading and creative activities

  • Music theory, integrated or in parallel coursework

  • Optional Royal Conservatory (RCM) exam preparation

Lesson Length Options:

  • 30 minutes – for beginner/young students

  • 45 minutes – for early intermediate students

  • 60 minutes – for intermediate and advanced students or students enrolled in RCM

2. The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM)

Students are strongly encouraged to follow the RCM curriculum, which offers:

  • A structured, nationally recognized progression from Preparatory through ARCT

  • Accredited evaluations with certificates for each level

  • Eligibility for awards, scholarships, and post-secondary credit (in many districts)

  • Development of well-rounded musicianship including performance, technique, theory, and aural skills

I will guide each student through the RCM requirements, ensuring they are fully prepared for both exams and personal growth.

3. Expectations & Practice Guidelines

Student Responsibilities:

  • Practice daily (5–6 days/week) for a duration appropriate to their level:

    • Beginners: 20–30 minutes

    • Intermediate: 45–60 minutes

    • Advanced: 60+ minutes

  • Come to each lesson with all required materials, including assignment notebooks, sheet music, and theory books

  • Maintain a respectful and focused attitude during lessons

  • Encourage a consistent daily practice routine

  • Read lesson notes and communicate any concerns or scheduling issues in advance

  • No-shows or last-minute cancellations (less than 4 hours) are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • If I must cancel a lesson, it will be rescheduled or credited to the following month.

5. Tuition & Payment

  • Payment is due at the beginning of each month based on the amount of lessons that are registered for through google calendar.

  • If lessons are added during the middle of the month, a new bill will be sent out.

  • No refunds for missed lessons; however, extended illness or family emergencies will be considered with discretion

6. Recitals & Performance Opportunities

Performance is an essential part of musical development. Students are encouraged to participate in:

  • Annual studio recitals

  • Local festivals or competitions

  • RCM examinations

  • Other performance opportunities as available

These events build confidence, polish repertoire, and offer valuable musical milestones.

7. Termination of Lessons

If a student needs to discontinue lessons, please provide at least 30 days’ notice. I reserve the right to terminate lessons due to consistent lack of preparation, disruptive behavior, or ongoing missed payments.

Final Note
My mission is to empower each student with the tools to become confident, expressive, and independent musicians. I believe in setting high expectations, while offering the encouragement and mentorship necessary to reach them. The discipline learned at the piano extends far beyond music — fostering resilience, creativity, and a lifelong love for the arts.

Thank you for your trust in this journey. I look forward to working with you or your child to achieve meaningful and lasting musical growth.
